I'm Vince Altavilla, a backend software engineer. I have been building distributed systems and data platforms since 2014, across cybersecurity, cloud and defense.
At CrowdStrike I work on the Risk Platform, the services that decide which vulnerabilities matter most: a Kafka-based repository of every CVE change, attack path analysis that maps routes to customers' critical assets, and RAG pipelines that use LLMs to enrich CVEs and decide what to scan. Before that I built data pipelines and cloud APIs at Iron Mountain, and mission and flight line software at Northrop Grumman and Lockheed Martin.
Outside work I build the small tools on this site, mostly to settle a decision of my own.
